Today’s rant is short and sweet…

The rest of my note is waiting after the jump…

While Microsoft’s GDC “announcement of an announcement” is the most recent example of this “announcing announcements” crap, quite a few other companies are just as guilty. Cut it out guys, it’s just absurd to waste all our time calling us to attention just so you can announce that in a future announcement you’ll be announcing something. Should we start expecting emails announcing the announcement of the announcement announcement?
I’ll bet this technique’s really popular with the ladies… “While we’re waiting on dinner to arrive, I just wanted to take this opportunity to announce that at 7:30 pm tonight, I’m going to decide whether I’ll be trying for first base or second base later in the evening.”
Sheesh…
For fun, let’s see what kind of announcement announcements you guys can come up with. After we collect enough, I’ll announce when I’ll announce who we’re going to email them to. If these companies think I need to know they’re announcing announcements, it’s only common courtesy to let them know when we’ll be announcing announcements of our own!

I’m going to be announcing that the announcements about announcing announcements are confusing and also that announcing announcements about announcing announcements is a stupid thing to do, and that Micro$oft will probably start doing that soon =P
If all they are is announcing future announcements so the said announcement is pronounced in the announcement, then the announcements purpose was fullfilled as the most pronounced announcement of the total announcement is the announced announcement. …clever
Sometime next week… we will be announcing that we will be announcing that we will be announcing that we will be announcing that we will be announcing that we will be announcing that we will be announcing that we will be announcing that we will be announcing that there will be a BIG* announcement… sometime… next…. month… or so.
*unimportant
And then the announcements will be continually delayed.
I would like to announce that Bungie will have an announcement later this month on whether or not they will be announcing that they have a future announcement to announce that Microsoft is going announce that Bungie is going to announce that Halo 4 may or may not be in a future announcement.
@everybody: What the fuxk did you just say?!
Great point Rothbart but I do not think it will ever end . Hyping up nothing is a ploy microsoft and others have been using recently.
Unlike everybody here I’m announcing that I will be purchasing an Elite xbox 360 as soon as i get the dough for it, you read about it here first on sarcasticgamer.com
you guys have the exclusive
All I have to say is that it’s just like the futurama episode where hermes recieves two letters the first is “Hermes, you are about to recieve a letter from the burocracy” then comes another letter and opens it. “OMG! It’s a letter from the burocracy!”.
I’ll post a hee-larious response on Friday
Nice denouncement of announcements.
Well, i would just like to announce, that i will be making an important announcement in a future post. I might, possibly, be letting everyone know, at one point or another, of something, that definitely may or may not, have some bearing on this discussion. I just want make absolutely sure, that everyone knows, i officially have nothing to announce at this time. Thank You.
(and if you didn’t recieve the announcement, about this announcement, “i apologize” )
Hear Ye, Hear Ye!!! Now hear this!!!! We here at the sarcastic gamer community are announcing that sometime (in the future) we will be announcing an announcement of sorts. When the announcement is made, you will know by the tone of my voice increasing greatly, and what is said will have some sort of substance or points to it. Do not fret, if you are unable to attend the announcement, we will most likely push its release date back, by 3 months at the supposed announcing time as described by me right now….thank you very much, we will see you soon (in the near future). Goodnight!
OK, they have to know about the future announcement in order to announce it. WTF? Why can’t they just announce it at the announcement of the announcement?
ok but what is the longest chain of announcements ever in the industry?
@Kromax44: You clearly get it. I debated whether to say that now or announce that I’d say it later. But since you pointed out that I know it now, I figured I’d just say it.
One scary thought though… what if they DON’T know what they’re going to announce when they announce the announcement… what if they’re making it up as they go!
nice drawing
