Is there anything cooler than a high speed police shoot-out with automatic weapons blazing, culminating in a death-defying leap of insanity onto a perp’s vehicle just as your motorcycle explodes?
I didn’t think so.
Check out my review of the latest Pursuit Force game for the PSP, after the jump!
High Octane. That’s basically the definition for one of my favorite PSP series: Pursuit Force. The first game came out way back in ‘06 and despite getting only a 75 on Metacritic, it has continued to see action whenever I needed a “full speed, high caliber weaponry” fix on the go. Well today part two of this adrenaline pumping series, Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice, hits stores.
The newest installment still suffers from the majority of problems in the first game. This is a bit strange, considering none of them are all that subtle. Players will still encounter the “no jump icon” glitch at least a few times while playing through the campaign. This is mind boggling, considering the whole attraction to the game is based around the jump mechanics during the many chases (i.e. leaping from your motorcycle onto a nearby car).
The on-foot sequences are still a joke too. Apparently, criminals in Capital City don’t fear bullets, as they time and again blindly charge into your field of fire.
The newest installment does add a larger cast. Too bad they do pretty much nothing. It’s kinda like having a toddler back you up in a gunfight. The graphics look much better though, removing the “blockiness” that hurt the first game. The cut scenes are also a big improvement over the original. The music is decent, if not great. The voice acting, as before, sucks. There’s just no other way to say it. The British and Jamaican accents in the game will make anyone from those countries cringe in pain.
