This is it. The beginning of the end. The Wii Fit has sold a million units in Japan. The transformation is complete. Shifting your fat a$$ on a scale is now officially a game.

The end of gaming as we know it, after the jump!
Did you forget what it is? Check it out:

Sure we all had a good laugh when Nintendo first showed off the Wii-Fit. The thing is, the sale of this in Japan just goes to show that people will buy any crazy idea Nintendo comes up with as long as it LOOKS like you get exercise while doing it.I’m surprised it doesn’t come bundled with a game with an italian plumber.

This could be the first sign of what most gamers dread. The end of the hardcore gaming, and even worse, the rise of GamerCise!

Next there will be the Wii-Cycle, Wii-Weights, Wii-Running Shoes, all with their own crappy mini-games.

It won’t stop there.

Next Nintendo will try to work in keeping a healthy diet as well with the introduction of Wii-Meals!

Do yourself a favor, avoid the Wii-Fit. Your body will thank you later…Even if it does look good with anything from Ikea.

Fight the power! I will not let good games fall to crappy mini games and that dumb grey thing you stand on!

      Say no to GamerCise!

but you have to look back at the power pad for the NES, that didn’t have a follow up until today, so I don’t think it’ll be that good.

I dunno if I’ll get the Wii-fit. You guys haven’t tried it yet…I’m going to wait until Yousty gives an official review.

    • 5 Yousty // Jan 10, 2008 at 11:54 am

Haha, funny thing is I probably will give a review because I will probably end up buying it for my girlfriend. I’m NOT saying she’s fat, cuz she definitely isn’t, but she thinks this looks pretty cool and I’m willing to do pretty much anything that gets her to like video games more. :)

Come on, guys! Use your imagination a little bit. Don’t you realize the possibilities this presents for - just as an example - the FPS genre?

Games like Metroid 3 have already shown that the wiimote is a step forward in console FPS control, now (hopefully) the Wii Fit board will be used in those games as well.

If they get the camera to shift and turn when you lean around the screen (while standing on the board), then that screen all of a sudden becomes a window. At the very least, the board will let you lean left and right in the game without pressing a button.

The way I understand it, the board will not only be used for these initial mini-games, but for other games as well. The board gives developers more options in teh games they develop, and opens up possibilities that are unavailable on other consoles.

I think the board is GREAT as a concept - as long as more games are developed implementing it.

The Wii has been describe perfectly on 1up yours to be honest. They called it toy. And its a great toy at that. We have a 360 and ps3 in the market for the hardcore gamers, why can’t the wii exist on its own in its own area. Yes, gamers may not like it, BUT the reason peopleplay these things is for FUN. Surely that’s as good as reason as any. Rock band is pretty much the wii with a tinge of hardcore gaming. anyone can pick up and play it, and its fun. Stop whining and go play COD4!

WTF!? They delayed Super Smash Bros. Brawl and cancelled Project H.A.M.M.E.R just for this crap!

First nintendo would have to develop a Wii scale to withstand the fast food nation, we call America.

      @Adam Harley

Using the board to lean instead of a button sounds like a good concept. It might seem like genius at first, but after a while, don’t you think that you’d rather press that button then have to constantly shift your weight?

I know I’m sounding like a total fat-ass, but really, the novelty of physically lean to lean in-game will last for the first hour, maybe less, then it will be just a pain. I’d prefer to twist the nunchuck to lean.

This is sad. I love the wii, it brings creativity to the market. But no one, NO ONE!!!!!!(but nintendo) seems to be able to actually pull some creativity out of their (hat). Yay, another mini-game collection. Huzzah, another racing game with shoddy wheel controls. Whoopie, now I can buy an attachment that does NOTHING to enhance my game experience. NOW I can buy one from nintendo (zapper).

Wii Fit? Thats great nintendo. I’m no hater of casual games (love em at times even), but Wii Fit??? Way to capitalize on an epidemic. I don’t (and haven’t) believe that this thing will really help. It just seems like a gimic, a PLACEBO with a voice.

    • 14 clstirens // Jan 11, 2008 at 1:30 am

And it doesn’t get any realer than that.

    • 15 Minbad // Jan 11, 2008 at 4:17 am

How about Wii sh**? It’s a special seat and you have to aim right in the middle… But be careful, no sh**!! :) Then it calculates the weight, frequency, size, etc. The point? Oh come on, you casual gaming hater!!!

This isnt something to complain about. I mean, sure, Wiifit the game is, but the controller…

Well, how many of you would like to actually lean around that wall in an FPS? Or to stomp ahead in a mech-piloting game?

    • 17 Ratchet8clank // Mar 17, 2008 at 9:37 pm

Yes! FPS with the Wii-fit! Imagine… jumping up and down rapidly fires weapon! Start marching in place to move forward! Ummm…. march backward to move backwards! Jump off the pad to reload! Lean side to side to turn! Throw white pack of a fused paper bundle into TV to WIN! (Wii-fit) Now that I think about I feel not liking pickles any more than I used to.
