Crysis, the big tease. PC gamers have been hanging this game over console players heads, even though most of them can’t play it either. Well, rumor had it that the game could end up on the console. After it mostly tanked in sales, it seemed inevitable.
Well, some of us just may get their wish, check it out, after the jump.
It has been announced that next month at the GDC both the 360 and PS3 will be showcasing the CryEngine 2. The only game that runs on the CryEngine 2 is Crysis.
Coincidence?
This could help the console that gets it, immensely. It might be even bigger than Halo, depending on how well it’s ported over. I know if this went to the PS3 I would mow every yard in the neighborhood, just to go buy a PS3 and Crysis, the game the day it came out.
The concept of fighting your way into North Korea to take on an alien invasion just seems fun to me. Call me crazy.

Personally I’m more excited about Far Cry 2, and that HAS been confirmed for 360 and PS3
I’ll just get it through Gamefly–problem solved.
Oh wait, I gotta get a PS3 again….hmm….I guess I’ll be playing the waiting game on this one.
I wonder if they will include any of the level editor stuff in the console versions?
I can speak from experience that Crysis is not an experience you will soon forget. The freedom of choice in early missions and epic battles in later ones are a great balence.
Kinda makes me sad i’ll have to buy another copy to play with my Live friends, though.

that would be awesome but it still really wouldnt steal my heart when killzone 2 is coming out for the ps3
Far Cry 2 is impressive, but the thought of the face-melting beauty of Crysis coming to 360 is astounding. (though I’m aware that Far Cry 2 has comparable graphics, It is the style of the game that attracts my attention).

Yes you are correct in saying that the CryEngine 2 is being ported to the ps3, Crytek have been saying this for years, but onlly the engine, Crysis is far to demanding to run on this genaration of consoles with major ‘optimising’, aka taking out all the cool stuff that made in good on the pc. There is a game called Obsidan in production, and some others I can’t remeber, on the cryEngine2.
P.S. PS3 WILL NOT GET CRYSIS.
and neither will the 360 because thats, even more lacking in power than the ps3. Although I have one my pc is now my main gaming platform. The only news is that the engine is going to PS3
I think it will go over to the 360 cause more people own one thus sales would be higher, which they desperately need

And if it does happen it will be a shell of it’s self as it was on PC.
Like doom 3 on xbox. Like doom on SNES, or any other poor console port of PC games even the good PC ports like call of duty 4 or orange box don’t look that good on consoles.
unless there programmers pull tecj programming of the gods. (and they would have to higher programming gods and when they are done what ever they make to Run crysis on console will make every game maker throw money at them to get this Godly tech.
It will not happen until this console cycle is over or you will get a lesser port.
And no matter what it will suck to play it since you do not have a keyboard and mouse.
And no just because the consoles are running cryengine 2 that means nothing those engines are made to scale from max power PC all the way down to tiny consoles or what ever they see fit just like all other big name engines before it.

No wait if I was British I would own “sensible world of soccer” and not even question why it looks like a 1990-1992 sega genesis game when it was made in 1996-1997 when 3d and powered cpu had taken over PC’s and consoles like the ps1/sega saturn..
Or why senible world of soccer made in 1996 looks worse than other sports and soccer games made in 1992 for the snes even in enhanced graphics mode on xbox 360.
No no If I was brittish I would think what ever sad machine this game was made for that still had brittsh people buying it in 1996 when it can barley keep up with SNES and was still going would be the best thing ever and the game would be my new god and if anybody said anything bad about this soccer game and this amiga machine I would start roits and smack them down.
But no sensible world of soccer” for the brittish is simply a triumph in backwards engineering/coding an example of how to make your game 1996 look worse than soccer games on the SNES from 1992. forget that you have had years to work with this amiga machine and in some models more power but are still unable to get anything to look as good as a snes.

I use to play console systems, till this year. I sold mine.
Honestly, consoles seem like the “poor mans computer”. I rather invest in a good computer then an overpriced console.
I own Crysis and I’m happy with it. I only bought it to test my new computer. I never cared for First Person Shooters before. This game really change my opinion of them.
A few days later I went out and bought Crysis WARHEAD. I only wish all games were this good.
I feel so sorry for you people if they try and port Crysis. You need to experience the REAL THING.
@ All those of you who were waiting for Far Cry 2, well , tough luck. It looks 10x worse than the PC version. For starters, NO shadows???
