Sony has been cooking something special up for it’s online PS3 users. I must be like a chili, or gumbo, because it has been cooking for quite sometime. Hey, I guess you can’t rush perfection, or a sexless version of second life.
Right?
Sony’s first attempt at “Home” was a flop. Many who used it were unamused by the long walks and lack of options. The good news that they have debuted Home 2, The Electric Boogaloo (That never gets old). Looks like they’ve listened to the feedback the users had about the original.
The apartment with a view is now an outdoor area for you to mix and mingle with the other members of the PSN. Sit and play chess while you philosophize about life, music, and your digital wardrobe. Why you would want to do that instead of playing Warhawk or CoD 4, I have no idea, but that’s what you’ll be able to do.
The theatre and bowling alley have been redone. Apparently, there was a twelve second walk that gamers felt was to long inside the movie theatre that has been shortened. That means you can be AND watch The Big Lebowski. Not at the same time, but you can watch the movie for motivation and the grab a lane with less walk time.
Just remember not to go over the line when bowling, or you’ll be ”entering a world of pain.” Sorry, that’s a damn good movie.
Home is currently on pace to be released in Spring 2008. Until an exact day is set, nothing is certain in the gaming world. If the latest version of Super Smash Bros. has taught us anything, it’s that “launch time,” and “Holidays ‘07″ don’t mean as much as Turok’s February 5Th, 2008 release date.

As someone in the Home beta, I can say without a doubt that _most_ people are mildly to severely misguided to what Home is, will be, and represents.
It will be interesting to see if Sony fights the battle to change people’s perceptions or changes Home to match them.
