Saw most of this on Gametrailers TV, previously known as Gamehead, on Spike TV on Friday. Gametrailers has finally put all of the video from the show into one montage of squad-based, Halo rip-off goodness for the world to see.
Check the Gamertrailers video, after the jump.
Here’s how EA is describing it:
“Featuring a unique blend of first-person shooting and tactical squad combat, every moment in Tiberium is intense, every mission leaves players breathless. To take the first-person shooter experience deeper into strategic combat, players will control multiple infantry, armor, and air squads as the fight escalates. In Tiberium, Vega is the most powerful presence on the battlefield, and the squads are his most decisive weapon. Players can take multi-squad control combat into single-player or bring the action into online multiplayer battles.”
I don’t know about you guys, but except for cosmetic differences with the bad guys and a couple of tweaks here and there, this looks basically like Halo, but with better graphics. Keep an eye on when he’s jumping, watching that, to me felt a lot like Halo 3. Review the video and discuss…
.
All in all, pretty sweet though. I hope the squad stuff is up to snuff, or this is gonna be a bargin bin burner, for this intrepid fanboy.

well Lono i think it looks like Halo alot but the weapons look kinda cooler
I have to say, the gun looks massively powerful, is it going to be find a pickup new weapons (like halo) or find attachments / upgrades to your weapon (metroid).
I dont see it going too well….
Quit comparing it to Halo, the tactical capabilities differentiate it from most FPS’s. If anything you should be comparing it to Ghost Recon or Rainbow Six, they are more similar in gameplay and style.
As for the graphical style, it was introduced in Tiberian Sun, circa 1999. Who’s copying who?
Screw Halo anyway, derivitive overrated shiate.
Pretty neat stuff – I’d have to say I love the attention to detail – the HUD on the weapon, and the way the weapon moves differently depending on the player’s actions is pretty sweet.
But i thought they weren’t gonna make halo 4?
The tiberium franchise has been around sicne the early 90’s, it developed the look in the video in 1999 with tiberian sun. Everything in that video, including vehicles, is what the 1999 RTS game was, except in an FPS enviroment.
Any comments about it being a copy of Halo are absolute BS so shut your mouths any stupid fanboys out there.
Thank you!
Personally, i think this game has the potential to be really cool. Especially if they incorporate a lot of squad commands and RTS aspects to the game, this could be pretty awesome.
This looks nothing like Halo. First of all, as Dejanus said, there’s a squad mechanic. There’s also a cover mechanic (although it may be hit or miss depending on how its implementated.) The sprint-to-cover movement seems more akin to Call of Duty or Gears of War than anything else. Don’t get me wrong; I love Halo. But this ain’t it.
I’m actually hoping it’s kind of a spiritual successor to Star Wars: Republic Commando – very similar squad mechanic and style. I loved that game!
If this game is anything like command and conquer renegade its going to be the next big thing. Renegade is one of the very few PC games I still play once in a while
@maul
Thank you.
Yeah, HALO is cool and all, but the tiberium franchise has been around much longer than HALO has. All you people comparing it to HALO are just ignorant jackasses. The new RTS Tiberium wars was the shit, and i have no doubt that this one will follow suit and be a very good game in the aspects of story and gameplay. p.s. i didnt see NOD in there at all…anyone else notice?
