Devil May Cry Demo is Gorgeous

I am not a Devil May Cry fanboy. I’ve played one and three, although I did not finish them even though I previously owned the third game. I find them to be a nice diversion between Bioware RPG’s and tactical shooters, but that’s just me.

Enter Devil May Cry 4 on the PS3 and Xbox 360. I downloaded the demo today. One word:

Gorgeous.

I’ve got some more choice words for ya, about the demo, after the jump!

The demo is basically 10 minutes of exploration of, what I can only assume, is the first level of the game. I’m a big fan of these types of demos. Crackdown did the same kind of thing, and that game became a surprise hit.

Devil May Cry 4 comes with a bit more of a pedigree that Crackdown. Anyway, here’s the gist of the demo, you run around and shoot and hit stuff. Period. Oh, by the way, it’s a ton of fun and it’s fraking gorgeous.

I honestly haven’t seen graphics this detailed, since Gears of War. This could possibly be the best looking game, ever, for the Xbox 360. To their credit, Capcom didn’t let the kick ass graphics slow the game play down one bit. You’ll be jumping, shooting, slicing, jumping and slicing, or jumping and shooting your way around the different environments, without a hitch.

How refreshing. Check out what else your in for, on page two.

I just played the demo earlier and it’s AWESOME!
Definitely buying it on the day it comes out, or as soon as I can. Thought that boss fight was a bit hard, but I beat it after a few tries.

      Best on PS3.

Lono I’m glad to see you used the word “fun” in there. I’m hoping it’s different enough from the DMC games I’ve played to keep my interest. Much like Ninja Gaiden (don’t just me), I found absolutely no “hook” or “fun factor” with the DMC games. They were fast-paced button mashers… I never had the time, patience, or desire to learn any of the combos and/or strategies.

I’ll reserve judgement on this one though until I play it first hand.

I guess I’m hesitantly impressed that you didn’t like 1 or 3 but still call this one both “gorgeous” and “fun”. Of course you liked Undertow too…

I will get this one on PC, it’s going to be better than the console versions.

On the part where you describe “Crackdown as a surprise hit”….I’m gonna have to disagree with you with this info: the only reason Crackdown was so successful was because everyone wanted to try and get the Halo 3 beta…….and you know it….So don’t try and add some spin into your next story.

And it wouldn’t be complete without folks like Triple Dongs, grass and renzo. We can now sleep knowing this post and its comments are complete.

@ commodore, Crackdown sold a ton of copies, even after the Halo Beta. It also sold more copies than people that played the Halo Beta too… 1.5 mil isn’t a success??? That demo wasn’t a blast??? What?

God of war 3 will murder this game and Ninja Yawnden 2 as well.

But DMC4 is still fairly epic.

However, this site is full of xbots, so I’m sure no one’s listening.

@triple dongs: I’m looking forward to God of War III, but you’re totally wrong about Ninja Gaiden II… Tough to take you seriously when you, first dog Ninja Gaiden, and then you call the writers a bunch of xbots….

I’ve played DMC 1, 2 & 3 and I’m kinda looking forward to this one although it’s not one of my favorite series. I only played 1 for about 30 minutes, I beat 2 as Dante and not what’s-her-face. 3 pissed me off because I sucked at it.

I wonder how 4 is going to treat me.

Wait a minute. What was best on PS3? Uncharted?
      Ninja Gaiden Sigma?
Whoever says that it was Nathan’s half-tuck….

^ The Xbot line made me laugh. Apparently reading is no longer required when you stop by a site like ours.

    • 17 Lono // Jan 24, 2008 at 9:51 pm

Apparently , the PS3 rocks, only if you use CAPS…

      Huh, didn’t know that.

I downloaded it DMC4 on PS3 today. Honestly, it didn’t really seem that graphically (or otherwise) impressive to me. Except for those enemy character models; I would rather sufficate my first born child than have to face those, um…puppet-looking bastard ever again!

EVERYTHING ROCKS WHEN MY PC CAPS LOCKS!

    • 20 Cube // Jan 26, 2008 at 4:18 am

I have a ps3 and a XBOX 360 and I am still buying it on xbox 360 just because it has a better interface.

now if the PS3 looked better or had full DTS support (i cant tell from the demos) I would buy it but I si not better enough to no buy the xbox 360 version.

and the PC version I will have to use a my gamepad wich is an xbox 360 gamepad and iof there is no mouse and keyboard enhanced controls then there is no point unless it looks better and it might but I think it will be a crappy port like metal gear solid 2 and now assasins creed is add to the list of poorly done console to PC ports.

I should make a top ten

      lets seee resident evil 4…

      devil may cry PC ports

      metal gear port/.

      final fantasy 7 pc port..

ohh the list goes on and on!

^ There was a Halo 3 beta in my Crackdown copy? Halo is one of the worst games in history. What the hell are you fighting in these games anyway, blurry fat midgets who scream a lot? Except on the 360, you fight HD fat midgets who scream a lot. Gears of War at least takes strategy.

I just found out that if you press down rather than just repeatedly tapping x (that’s right, x not A) then there is another mission you can play
      oh the joy
