After finishing Portal, I just couldn’t get enough of “Still Alive.”  That song put such a smile on my face, I must have looked like Doc after seeing himself on Youtube for the 1,000th time. 

To keep that going, I blatantly ripped off Portal and began posting quotes from Portal’s GlaDos in the forums, under the name “News Bot.” Who knew it would take off like it did?

News Bot was a generic name used to post articles for other writers when they were unable.  We hadn’t used it in a while and I thought it would be funny to post under the name and see if anybody picked up on it.  A few did. Pretty soon, Doc got in on the action and began posting as News Bot.  Between the two of us, we were causing havok all over the forums.  The Admin Poll is a great example.  Although that was not me. 

I promise.

Anyway, we kept the theme going and thought we’d give our forum guys a little Easter Egg by using News Bot as the evil villian in our Halloween Episode, which included the only scripted piece we’ve ever used in any show.  To this day, it’s one of my favorite episodes.  Credit to Doc’s wife for voicing the News Bot in the podcast. 

For causing havok in the forums and propelling our Halloween Episode to the top of the pops, News Bot’s still alive and checks in at number 11 on Sarcastic Gamer’s Top 100 Gaming Moments of 2007!
