For months now rumors that another Blizzard MMO was in the works had been circulating; driven by the many open job listings on the Blizzard website. Everything from “WoW2″ to “World of Guitar Hero” have been thrown around as possible games being developed.
Blizzard community rep Drysc has confirmed that “an unannounced next-gen MMO” is in the works “and that doesn’t mean it’s an expansion for World of Warcraft either.” Well that is good news. Good in that we don’t have to suffer from even MORE rabid WoW fanboys running around raving about their latest conquests. I’m the last person on the planet who will EVER stand up and name WoW as my favorite game, but even I admit they have set the bar for every other MMO. Nobody has the numbers, support or reputation in the MMO genre like Blizzard does.
For me, MMO’s have fallen away from my gaming plate these past two years. Though WarHammer and Conan will be dropping soon and I plan to give them both a go. It’s too soon to guess what universe Blizzard’s new MMO will be played in, but as a die hard StarCraft fan, playing as a Zerg does hold some appeal for me. Though my money says they will try something outside of their previous titles.
Either way, Activision Blizzard seems all set to continue their domination of the MMO genre…oh wait, there is still Fury, who cares about Blizzard?!

Never been one for MMO’s myself. I don’t have the time or the patience to focus on one game like that.
