This just goes to show how much of a phenomenon the Wii is and how much of a disappointment the Gamecube was. Check out the graph (click it to make it larger) to see the huge difference between growth lines.
The Gamecube may be dead in most people’s eyes, but thanks to the Wii’s backwards compatibility it’s memory will live on forever.

Getting a Gamecube was well worth it just for SSBM, and there were a choice few other decent titles, but I still wouldn’t have survived without a PS2. GC didn’t really offer enough variety to be the only console you owned, which is probably why it failed so miserably. But if you could get one cheap enough in the later years (I paid $90 for a bundle on eBay with the system, a memory card, two controllers, and two games), it was worth it.
But still, it’s got nothing on the Wii :D.

i agree that the gamecube was worth it be it for the SSBM, my buddy got it and that was the only game he ever had in his system. Which was fine by me, hell we still play the original on my 64

It’s got nothing on the Wii? Wii has Gamecube graphics and PS2 ports, what can be so great about it? There are only a few exclusive titles. I’m not a fanboy in any way and I like all three systems but Wii has nothing going for it right now except for Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, and BWii.
