So the guys here at SG surprised me with Rock Band for Christmas. It was so generous. I was floored. After finally getting the chance to set it up, I couldn’t help thinking how badly I suck at this game. Especially on the guitar. I think we all look like spasmatics trying to drum, that’s to be expected, but I was having trouble hitting all of the notes on the Guitar…. on EASY. I honestly thought I just sucked, until my sister, who is a WHIZ at Guitar Hero 2, gave it a shot on “Expert” began a cussing tirade unlike anything I have ever witnessed for a video game.
“This Guitar is (broken),” she told me. Sure enough. Boy do I feel both better and pissed at the same time. YAY! I don’t suck that bad… and DAMMIT! I got a bad guitar and now I’ll probably have to jump through a thousand hoops to get a replacement. After all, this is EA that I’m dealing with here.

Not so. I just got off the phone with EA support, after about 4 total minutes, my new guitar is on the way. I had to leave a credit card number to ensure that I return the broken one, but have been assured that my new guitar will be here in 3 to 5 days, and that I will not be charged if I return the broken one in the Postage Paid package. It’s like the RROD, but faster. At least until I get my new guitar I can brush up on my singing and drumming skills.
We all like to point fingers when people/companies screw up. Let’s not be the last to stand and applaud EA in this instance for owning up to the problem immediately, and providing a LIGHTNING quick way to get us back to rocking out. Bravo EA. Bravo.

I can’t wait. I _love_ faulty hardware. I’ve got a Rock Band box just waiting for the 25th when “Santa” can deliver it. But due to Asstivision/Homonix’s blunders, I had to go against my personal pledge to support multiplatform titles on the PS3 over the 360 and I got it for the 360. So now I get to see which will fail first, my 3rd 360 or my Rock Band guitar. Joy!

Why don’t you just return the guitar today and ENSURE that you have a working one on Xmas day? At least on Xmas day someone can play Bass.

Even if your Rock Band guitar is faulty, at least your Guitar Hero guitar will still work on the 360

Hopefully Activision doesn’t make it so the Guitar Hero (Xbox 360) guitars don’t work with Rock Band.

I’ve got to hand it to EA. Between the quick turn-around time on replacement hardware and even going so far as to offer relatively new games to those customers that have to wait for hardware…EA is looking a lot less evil in my book.

Actually, I don’t even _like_ the Rock Band guitar… sorry. I think I’m getting GH III for Xmas as well and I plan to use its guitar and the Xplorer I got with GH II and use the Rock Band guitar as a backup in case one of the others break.
Many people have expressed how unhappy they are with the Rock Band guitar, it’s not just me…
BTW, if anyone DOES like it, this is a known exploit of “the system” to buy a second Rock Band guitar… you just call as if your guitar is broken and you keep ‘em both and let them charge you. Stickin’ it to “the man”!

Hey, I bought Rock Band and played it for a couple of days. It isn’t just the guitar that has the problem, the game itself is not timed right at all. I had to keep setting the calibration on my LG Plasma after 2 or 3 songs. The game doesn’t sync well between instruments, TVs, and the console.
