billydeesign2.jpgIn a “Shock and Awe” move, Vivendi (WoW and World In Conflict) and Activision ( CoD4 and Guitar Hero) have merged to create “Activision Blizzard” the largest video game publisher, in the Universe! You read that right, the largest in the Universe.

Activision Blizzard has over taken EA, the long time titan of the industry, in size.  They’ve also taken the title for stupidest company name from long time holder, Starbreeze Studios.

Congratulations.

Read all the dirty details, after the jump!

This is good news to the ears of people like Lono who hate EA’s cookie cutter approach to making video games.

What does this merger really mean to gamers like us? I have no idea, but I am hoping that two power houses coming together is a positive thing. Only time will tell.

Let’s hope that because of their size they don’t start adopting EA’s policies instead of crushing them. Don’t do it for the money guys, do it for the games. Or else Lono’s coming and Sarcasticgamer’s coming with him.

More on this story in the coming days as it develops…. stay tuned to Sarcasticgamer for all the details!
