On June 28, 2007 Sarcastic Gamer threw their proverbial hat in the ring and launched Episode 1 of the Sarcastic Gamer Podcast. The guys thought it would be fun (or torturous) to have me write about the Sarcastic Gamer Podcast since I’ve been involved with Sarcastic Gamer from the beginning but am not really involved in the podcast.
Think of it as an insider’s look “from the outside”.
Much like everyone else hearing the Episode 1 for the first time, I thought “Who is that hot sounding chick in the intro and what does she look like?!?!” Sadly, I have no answer for either of those questions, but what I (and everyone else I talked to about the podcast) also thought was “Wow, this podcast sounds SO professional!” The audio production quality wasn’t what people were expecting when listening to videogame podcasts. I sort of expected crap and got caviar (no offense Doc, it’s meant as a compliment!).

As a gamer and avid podcast listener, I’m expecting pops, clicks, hums, “ummmms” and such. It took a bit to get used to the sound since it sounded so much more like *gasp* radio than a free hobbyist-run podcast. Doc’s worked in radio for years… and apparently he’s good!
Episode 1 would mark the start of a long-standing tradition of verbally smacking down various things including (but not limited to): the Playstation 3, Microsoft Surface, the 360’s Red Ring of Death, Xbox Live Video Marketplace, Second Life, the Wii (in general), Halo 3, Blu-ray, Blockbuster, Shadowrun, and we can’t forget Dave. I’m amazed Dave’s still around to be honest… Who will Sarcastic Gamer poke fun at next? I guess you’ll have to keep tuning in to find out.
The podcast has grown and improved since then with the regular addition of Lono, Alex “SupaSlick” Shaw, and PacManPolarBear. While I’d like to consider myself the “smart” one for not getting roped into the podcasts yet, who knows what the future may hold. You may very well hear one minute of uninterrupted time from me (where I plan to talk about nothing but Dave’s mom… maybe.)
That’s why the first episode of the Sarcastic Gamer Podcast checks in at #51 in our top 100 Gaming moments of 2007!
