darth-vader-gloves-3.jpgThe CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America was interviewed recently about the woes of the PS3’s first year. While the console has been making some strides as of late with the price cuts and some good titles, they’re still not where they thought they’d one year later.

“The first year is important, but it’s the first inning of a nine-inning baseball game. You’re not going to win many baseball games if you panic when you’re down 1-0 in the first inning.”

Read the rest to see how crazy this guy is after the jump!

How far down can you be in the first inning before you start to panic, Jacky boy? What do you do if your starting pitcher, i.e. Heavenly Sword, or Lair, needs to be relieved in the first inning? In this case, the PS3’s relief pitchers are stuck in traffic on the way to the park, i.e. Final Fantasy and MGS4. They may not even make it to the park.

The glass is half full mentality can get you only so far. He went on to say:

“We realized that not every consumer is going to be ready for what the PlayStation 3 offers (HD and broadband) in the first year and I don’t know that we expect or need them to be ready for it. We need them to be ready for it over the next decade. And if you look at the PlayStation 2, we sold 120 million machines so far — but we certainly didn’t sell them all in the first year.”

Ten years? That seems a bit far. Kind of like when Anakin was foreseen as “the one who would bring balance to the force.” To bad he ended up killing millions of people before the end of Return Of The Jedi. I’m sure that when they release the PS2 they had no idea it would still be doing this well for this long.

Shouldn’t they be releasing the PS4 in ten years? I’m sure the PS2 will still be selling strong.

Honestly i think remvoing support for ps2 games was a bad idea, it may have been an incentive for ps2 user to “Upgrade” as time went on. For myself I had to get a ps3 for the prospects of future games, and the ability for me to experience ps2 games for the first time. With all of that said I realize they were trying to create a budget product, but for me the cut in cost would never be worth it.

But anikin did bring balance to the force in at least one of two ways
      - at the beggining of episode there were two evil sith (vader and sidious) and two good jedi (yoda and obi wan)
      - and also he kills Darth Sidious anyway
