With the news that Activision and Vivendi are merging breaking earlier this month, the natural order of the world (the video game world) has been thrown into disarray. EA, once the kingpin of video game publishing, has now been relegated to second place (baby bottles and wubbies have been handed out to EA execs across the country).
Rather than simply cry for mommy and concentrating on making quality (in their minds) products like Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath, EA has decided to announce yet another super corporate takeover of their own. As of 12pm CST today, EA has officially purchased McDonalds. Citing the massive amounts of junk food video gamers require in order to function, EA apparently believes the two companies are a perfect fit.

SG managed to get in on a conference call with EA vice-president Stan Iliketoeatworms, who had this to say about the newest acquisition: “McDonalds, like EA, has always held themselves to a high standard when it comes to providing quality products to their customers. By combining our companies we can now reach two complementary facets of the EA/McDonalds consumer base; heart clogging fast food and sedentary, overpriced video games. We plan to place titles like Medal of Honor and Need For Speed ProStreet into McDonalds happy meals; bringing some of the best games we have to offer customers at the same time as filling their bellies with top notch triple Q rated beef.”
So far reactions have been positive for the most part. Though like all EA takeovers, many McDonalds employees have jumped ship; namely Ronald McDonald and Grimace. The two denied having any hard feelings but alluded to concerns that their likeness’ would be used in a forth coming Sims expansion. Good for them. So far I am undecided on whether this latest EA waste of money is good or bad. All I know is that paying $6 for a happy meal with Need For Speed ProStreet in it is still far too much money.

Is this real cos I actually believed you
I, ironically happen to kind of like McDonalds – their new salads along side the cold-cut sandwiches are one of my favorites in the fast-food business. Not to mention the very acceptable price.
Pro Street is a great game, love the soundtrack, love the handling(some will say its like driving boats, but that’s the whole idea, you have to configure and tweak your car to your liking). But, like any EA game this one too is full of many, many bugs. For example, according to my career profile, my most liked car is the Acura Integra, where in reality that FWD ricer would be the last thing I touch in a racing game.
um…
