Happy Holidays to you all. Just because the rest of us are taking a break from our daily lives the Hi Def battle rages on.
In case you’re new to the Hi Def war, Blu-Ray has owned HD-DVD over the last few weeks. Since it’s Christmas day we’re going to settle this week’s battle in one day. Here are your Blu-Ray and HD-DVD releases for the week of December 24th, 2007.
More after the jump.
Blu-Ray
- Rush Hour 3 - Tucker and Chan are back for the third installment of their comedic roundhouse franchise. Chris is back from a six year hiatus. Do you think he still has it? Should have called this one Rush Hour 3: Back for a paycheck!
- Pan’s Labyrinth - Is it a fairytale, or an over active imagination? You decide.
HD-DVD
- Eastern Promises - Naomi Watts learns that she really needs to stop poking her nose where it doesn’t belong.
- The Kingdom - CSI: Saudi Arabia.
- The Heartbreak Kid - Ben Stiller? In a movie where he makes some mistakes and then tries to fix them? Sound familiar?
- Pan’s Labyrinth - See Above.
- Time Cop - Jean-Claude Van Damme once roundhouse kicked someone so hard that his foot broke the speed of light, went back in time, and killed Amelia Earhart while she was flying over the Pacific Ocean. A stolen Chuck Norris joke, but it fits so well.
- Cat People - From IMDB, “The Cat People originated way back in time, when humans sacrificed their women to Leopards, who mated with them. Cat People look similar to humans, but must mate with other Cat People.” Riiiiight.
I expected a vicious counter attack, but unfortunately it came on a bad week. Maybe they’re hoping all of the people hitting up the “after Christmas sales” will pick up some of these hot titles. I announce HD-DVD the winner of this week’s battle, despite Cat People.
Come back next week and find out who will finish out the year with a win.
