It’s a sad, sad day for gamers out there who are still playing the PS2 online. Wait, the PS2 has online play?

Ahem.

Anyway, if you like Resident Evil: Outbreak or Monster Hunter, your days are numbered.

You have about 26 of them actually.

Read more after the break!

Capcom has recently announced on their official blog that the servers for these two games will go silently into that good night on December 31st, 2007.  There are no plans to move or extend their online contract.

Maybe if you die-hard fans had kicked up more of a fuss, our poor little monster hunters wouldn’t have to spend enternity in the endless silence of a shutdown server. I guess you’ll need time to mourn your loss.

Funeral services will begin at the end of this month and continue until Sony declares the PS2 dead.

So basically, never.
