94. Microsoft Loses Its Cool?

241tifjpgcopy13.jpgMany people were not surprised to find out that yet another Microsoft-made gaming device probably didn’t work right. What was even more surprising was the fact that almost nobody, including yours truly wouldn’t even give them the benefit of the doubt. Read my editorial here.

I’m talking about the 360 Wireless Racing Wheel. It was widely reported that there had been instances where the wireless racing wheel releasing smoke from a defective component if it you used it with the AC adapter while you play. While Microsoft took a huge PR hit, they did the right thing and instituted a voluntary recall program to retrofit the allegedly defective devices.

Turns out, the instances of the defect were so small that the retrofits done by Microsoft could be counted in the single digits.

Overhype?

I guess when your main console suffers from a catastrophic defect that affects a huge percentage of your customers, people get a little jumpy when they hear rumors about your products causing fires…

Allegedly.

      I am a huge fan of the Microsoft’s gaming console. They offer a great online service, a great library of games, and, hey, they have halo.

      However, if they don’t get their act together with their hardware. I am getting leary of upgrading to the next generation of 360.

      Afterall, nintendo’s got some good stuff in store…
