When Guitar Hero II was released earlier this year, it carried with it the promise of downloadable songs every weekthat you could download from Xbox Live that would potentially extend the life of the game to, well, forever.

They lied.

Not only that, but when the DLC finally came out it…

Read the rest, after the jump.

When the DLC finally showed up on XBL it appeared as nonsensical, three song packs from the original Guitar Hero for the PS2.  The other problem?

They charged two bucks a song.  For a cover song.  That is f%$ked up.

To add insult to injury, not only did they charge an arm and a leg for a cover song, but their weekly DLC only produced three initial offerings and didn’t offer up the weekly DLC they promised.

Thanks Activision!

When you did the math, it ended up costing 90 bucks to download the 45 or so songs from the original Guitar Hero.  If they ever bothered to release them.  For that price, you could have purchased both Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero II for the PS2.

So, for charging outrageous prices for cover songs and failing to deliver on your weekly DLC promise, we salute you Activision for screwing up a once proud franchise!

That’s why the Guitar Hero II DLC Debacle checks in at number 86 in our top 100 Gaming moments of 2007!
