Sarcastic Gamer Top 100 Countdown

Wii Triples Production

It’s been one Crazy, with a capital C, year for Nintendo. Even after one whole year, that little white box from Nintendo is still flying off shelves faster than free alcohol at an AA meeting.

Find which way the Wii made our countdown, after the jump!

Just like the rest of the world, Nintendo hadn’t expected this type of demand in their wildest dreams, and who can blame them? The GameCube sold so poorly that there were people actually predicting that Nintendo might pack it in and call it quits on the hardware side of video games. Well I think it’s pretty safe to say that Nintendo is having the last laugh right now.

After realizing that demand for the Wii wasn’t going to die any time soon, Nintendo finally decided to triple their production workforce. Due to their delay in upping production, it has been estimated that Nintendo will miss out on 1 billion dollars in sales this year. Ouch.

That’s why Nintendo making a very costly mistake and waiting until right before Christmas to triple production workforce is #85 on the Sarcastic Gamer Top 100 Gaming Moments of 2007.

What would be hilarious is if Nintendo tripled thier workforce, lose the 1 billion and then when the new workforce is operational the demand drops off……that would be an interesting day indeed…..

Most of the developers are putting the most money towards the 360 and Ps3 though, while putting some games on the Wii to pay to the development costs.

      Its pretty smart actually…

I’d say the Wii had a shot at living a decent life if it AT LEAST could output 720p.. even if only decently upscaled from 480p.

We’re just at the tipping point of the HD market and the Wii is pretty much the last hurrah for SD.. once an HDTV is in more than half the homes of the Wii owners and they get a glance at that junk upscaled.. they’ll pack it in, even if only for an HD DVD player of The Discovery Channel HD
