Top Gaming Moment # 71: November 14th, 2007

As we count down our list of great gaming moments of 2007, one moment stands out as not only a great story, but also as proof positive that SG is not a place you can run your mouth (for no reason) and not pay the piper for it. We at SG pride ourselves on sarcasm, brutal honesty, and for being a bastion for every valid gaming viewpoint under the sun. We dish out gaming news and reviews like a Mike Tyson sucker punch, and are more than willing to take our lumps in the process. That said, even the writers and forum members at SG limit themselves to actual facts and rationality (most of the time). Unfortunately, some people just can’t help themselves from ranting like a 4 year old who just drank his daddy’s 6 pack of Bud.

On November 14th, 2007, a day that will live in infamy, ReggsRoom, a one time SG forum member (I wonder why he stopped posting…), crossed the line between giving his point of view and talking out of his incredibly stretched anus (because he talks so much S**T). His forum thread, titled “Call of Duty 4 is not a Next Gen Game” was so incredibly misguided (A.k.A dumb as hell) and unsubstantiated that he received one of the most brutal (if not THE most brutal) forum backlashes we have had the privilege to read here at SG, or anywhere else for that matter.

Here’s a quick run down of his thread. His initial post almost reads like a positive review of COD4, except for his criticisms of the lack of co-operative play and too many “scripted moments.” Thats it. That is his whole basis for calling COD4 out as unworthy of the next-gen consoles (ie the 360). Lack of Co-Op and “scripted moments” is all you got? Bitch please!

Rather than rehash what our great, troll slaying SG community has already said (here) to refute this nonsense, let me just say that COD4 stands as one of the most visceral and superbly done bits of game development we have seen in years, not just 2007.
