toilet23.JPGShadowrun. The name alone sends gamers in a tizzy. Some love it (a certain member of the Gamerscore Blog, who will remain nameless at this time), but most hate it.

There was a lot of high hope for this multiplayer only affair. People were calling this game Counterstrike with magic.  Many thought it would dominate the multiplayer scene on Xbox Live.  Well, let’s see…Magic powers, 4D axis play, and Dwarfs.

How did it go all wrong?

Find out, after the jump!

First of all, the maps were bland as hell. They all looked the same. The weapons were generic. The magic powers were interesting, but realistically, you were very limited as to what you could use during a fast paced game. The weapons weren’t balanced and neither was the magic.

Don’t even get me started on the single player game. There was no single player, unless you call a bot match with the most retarded AI ever seen in a game a single player mode.

And they were charging $60.00 for a multiplayer only game.

We at Sarcastic Gamer disliked it so much, Doc and I wrote a song about it.

Check it out here.

Shadowrun, the numbers don’t lie. We here at Sarcastic Gamer think that you’ve wasted your time. Unfortunately, so did Microsoft and after the failure of Shadowrun they closed FASA studios, the makers of Shadowrun, down permanently. While we hope you all get new jobs former FASA employees, we’re also glad that there’s not going to be a Shadowrun 2.

That’s why Shadowrun’s crash and burn checks in at #68 on Sarcastic Gamer’s Top 100 Gaming moments of 2007!
