The first time I met Doc and Dave was in Dallas at Quakecon 2007. Who knew what trouble we’d get into that weekend… I’ll save those tales for another day, but I will share with you the first meeting between Dave and Frag Doll, Calyber.

While Doc was sleeping his hangover off, Dave and I hit the show floor, eager to check out Valve and Sierra’s wares. Also on the floor were the Frag Dolls. They were pimping some computer, or whatever, but we strolled up, looking to meet the ladies and get a quick interview. Dave and I had a little chat with Ms. Calyber, who couldn’t have been nicer. Dave was smitten.

Well, as you all know, we didn’t get the interview, due to time constraints, but we did get to play them in Rainbow Six Vegas… on the PC. On laptop PC’s… Not our usual home turf. We’re used to the fine, off-white Xbox controller, but we endured. We only lost by a two kills, but afterward, Dave was all Calyber this, and oh my god she’s so hot that.

When we put all of the Quakecon audio together, along with our regularly scheduled podcast Episode 4 Doc memorably went off on Dave over Dave’s never ending Calyber talk… and the “Calyber” voice was born.

Turns out, Calyber heard the podcast and absolutely loved it. She was gracious enough to come on the show for Episode 5, where the two lovebirds were re-connected… The rest is ….

Oh, wait, did I tell you that she’s married? Yeah… Sorry Dave. Oh well, the good news is that the restraining order against Dave expires in a few months.

Episode 4 and 5 are still two of the most commented on podcasts in the forums. That’s why the forbidden love between Dave and Calyber checks in at number 60 on Sarcastic Gamer’s Top 100 Gaming Moments of 2007!

By the way, yes that is a mint condition, first run SG tee shirt Dave’s wearing . Only five in existence. That may change in the coming months though…
