Wii Passes 360

Almost four months ago today Nintendo made history taking yet another record. This wasn’t just any record though, it was the record that is the main fuel for any fanboy flame war on the internet. Nintendo dethroned Microsoft as the worldwide leader in number of “next-gen” consoles sold.

Find out why this made the top 100, after the jump.

Up until the end of August, 2007, Microsoft had been sitting comfortably upon their throne of domination. Unfortunately for them, they forgot to do one very important thing: check their rear view mirror. Oh, and put heat sinks into their consoles. If they had done either, they would have seen Nintendo come flying up on them like a fat kid in a buffet line.

Most people thought that since Microsoft had an entire year head start on Nintendo and Sony that they would hold the largest market share for quite awhile. Nobody ever expected them to lose their lead in only 9 months, not even Nintendo. That’s exactly what happened and Nintendo has only gained steam since then.

Who knows when this out of control Wii craze will end, but I think it’s pretty safe to say that Nintendo will be on top for a very, very long time. Just look at how far they’ve pulled ahead since they took the top.

It’s not fun anymore once you side with one player, be it Nintendo, sony, or Microsoft.
