The Legendary Edition of Halo 3 came with a ton of extras for the hardcore Master Chief followers among us. For a mere 130 dollars you too could own a feline-sized replica of the hardcore headgear worn by the world’s favorite Halo Hero.
While many of you gobbled up these big-ticket bundles on the day it released some of us were left scratching our unshielded heads. What’s the big deal?
Collector’s Edition games are nothing new but the Halo 3 Helmet Edition, as we came to call it, was just about one of the most useless things ever made. I mean if it won’t fit onto anything, can it really be called a helmet? A few ingenious folks found ways past the safeguards that Bungie and MS put in to protect cats and small children, but for the most part, it was just something cool to show off to your friends, who were all enjoying the same game at half the price that you paid.
That’s why the Halo 3 Cat Helmet is number 58 on the sarcastic Gamer Top 100 Gaming Moments of 2007.
