57. The Worst Selling Madden of All Time!

john-madden-thumb.jpgMany people, including Lono, have accused EA of cookie cutting the Madden franchise. They sprinkle on a new feature or two and update the rosters. It’s NFL football and EA owns the rights to the most popular sport in the U.S.  EA has no competition in the football game genre.

This could never backfire…right? There’s no way EA’s golden goose could lay a rotten egg, right?

WRONG!

Whether it’s the 30 fps on the PS3, or the thought of playing the same game that they played last year, the fans have spoken. With their wallets. They want a better Madden. If EA didn’t own the rights to the NFL, another company might have had a shot at becoming the new king of Football.

Too bad EA didn’t take better care of their longest running, best selling franchise. It’ll be interesting to see what Madden ‘09 will like since the cash cow has been taken down a peg.

EA re-releasing Madden ‘07 as ‘08 and selling poorly because of it checks in at number 57 on Sarcastic Gamer’s Top 100 Gaming Moments of 2007.

      Well that’s one of the reasons why it aint sellin’, other reasons are…..well there are a ton of kick butt awesome games this fall!
