The Orange Box. Five great games that taste great together. Although it was known as a kick-ass collection, one of the games managed to stand out from the rest.
Portal. Yeah, the game with the cake…
It re-defined “puzzle games” and resulted in my favorite video game song that also just happened to show up in the Halloween Episode of our podcast.
Read why it made it to number 38 on our countdown, after the jump!
A gun that shoots through the space-time continuum. Great puzzles. The Weighted Companion Cube. The dead pan humor of GlaDos. These were just a few of the many great things about Portal. Not only was it a great, albeit brief, stand alone game, but Valve managed to tie it into the existing Half-Life continuity. Valve has promised that we’ll see the escaped female android in future Half-Life Games.
Sweet.
As for GlaDos? After your epic battle with her many “personalities” you find out that she’s “doing science and still alive” in one of the catchiest song’s in my head since I stopped humming the Diff’rent Strokes theme a few months ago. Dang that little guy was spunky. “Whachu talkin about Willis!”
Har! Ah, the good times….
But I digress. After all of the accolades, after we ripped the song and the off for Episode 14 of our podcast, after all of that…. One saying remains:
The cake is a lie…
Because the cake really wasn’t a lie, Portal, the sensation, checks in at number 38 on Sarcastic Gamer’s Top 100 Gaming Moments of 2007.

you probably just spoiled this game for someone.
plus the achievments that this game had failed as after i beat the game i looked at the achievments i got and it said i had not gotten the lab rat achievment which is achieved after getting the fully powered gun even though i had clearly gotten it
