Oh Sony, what a crazy year you’ve had. From the constantly changing PS3 models and crazy exec quotes to the dozens of game delays and lost exclusives, we never knew what to expect next.
One of the most embarrassing moments of the year for Sony, though, has got to be that the PS2 has consistently outsold the PS3. We’re not just talking about a couple hundred units either, there were weeks where the PS2 would outsell the PS3 4:1!
While most people look at this as a bad thing, it is actually a really good thing for Sony. Since it’s been reported that they’re going to post a $1 billion loss in the PS3 division, all of the profitable PS2 console and game sales will help them absorb all of that red ink. Not only that, but all of those silly people that are buying PS2s right now will be perfect candidates for purchasing PS3s five years from now.
So by extending the life of the PS2, Sony has actually helped improve the future of the PS3. Crazy.
That is why PS2 still outselling the PS3 even one year after launch is #36 on Sarcastic Gamer’s Top 100 Gaming moments of 2007.

lol
But if it keeps going like this, the ps2 might break the atari 2600’s record for “longest lifespan in a video game console”, or has it already surpassed it?

buying a ps2 i a much smarter option for someone going to get a console who dosnt have alot of dough as by the the time game developers stop creating games the price of the ps3 will be be low enough to componsate for the ps3 you bought.
explanation:
future
price of ps3 = todays price take away price of todays ps2 plus a little
