It’s been a pretty good year for Activision. Actually, it’s been a great year for Activision. Thanks to the huge success of Guitar Hero they were able to take away the highest grossing developer spot from long-time king EA. It hasn’t been all champagne and roses though.
See why after the jump.
For some unknown reason, Activision apparently decided to not even test their release of Guitar Hero III for the Wii, because if they had then they would have realized that it only outputs from one freakin’ speaker! I still don’t understand it. Big name video game publishers have hundreds of testers. How in the world, out of those hundreds of testers, could they not realize that Dolby Pro Logic or even Stereo sound was not working?
Finally after several months, Activision has stepped up and started offering free replacement discs for all of those shafted Wii owners. This action, unfortunately for Activision, came a little too late because they now have a pending lawsuit against them for fraudulent advertising of surround sound on the game boxes.
That’s why Activision forgetting to test the most basic of game features lands it at #29 on Sarcastic Gamer’s Top 100 Gaming moments of 2007.

Wow. Seems like a lame lawsuit, but I too would be pretty pissed of the box told me I could hear my favorite songs in surround sound glory, then failed to deliver.
i reckon that shore you would be pissed if you had a nice setup and it was only mono but going to the trouble of fileing a lawsuit is just in the pursuit of just getting money
Welcome to america.
I hope that the lawsuit flops, Activision is offering free replacement after all…
