Analyst have announced Nintendo is costing themselves a cool $1B in lost sales by not being able to meet consumer demand of the Wii a full year after introduction. When news of this hit the mainstream gaming press, representatives from Microsoft were quick to point out their numbers bested Nintendo’s by reminding us that they cost themselves $1.15B with their Red Ring of Death repair program.
Sony’s Kaz Hirai couldn’t let Nintendo and Microsoft best them in yet another category and was quick to generate graphs from their gaming, consumer electronics, and entertainment divisions showing how they’re costing themselves billions and billions of dollars in sales by keeping their system prices high and their game library small and unimpressive. Sony’s numbers indicate they’re surpassing their competition quite definitively.
When asked to comment on Sony’s claims, Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime simply said “You know, I think we should let Sony win this one…“
