
While the purists amongst our readership might argue that the price drop on the PS2 preceded 2007, what cannot be argued is that the impact of that price drop was felt well into this calendar year. With sales of the PS3 lagging early on, the PS2 kept chugging along, with a slimmer, lighter design, tiny price tag, and more available games than any other console in history. While many saw the drop as a defensive move against Microsoft’s Xbox 360, others still claim it was meant to make the PS2 the no-brainer consolation prize for the thousands of people who searched in vain for a Wii this year.

Personally, I can’t bring myself to play last gen games anymore. I sold my PS2 on January 8th to a guy named Fritz in Holland. I got enough for it and my entire game collection to buy two new games for my Xbox 360 and a large “Original” at Philly Connection. I forgot to tell Fritz that sometimes you have to tap it on the table to get it to turn on. Well, now you know Fritz.
