I don’t know how many of you had the chance to play Midway’s classic Cruis’n USA on the N64 or in the Arcade, but it was a great, addictive arcade style racer very reminiscent of the Rad Racer days of yore. So when they announced that Midway was working on a new version for the Wii, I couldn’t help but get a little excited. Then the first screenshots were released.
That excitement quickly disintegrated into disgust.
A side by side comparison between the Wii and the 1994 version after the jump.
Let’s play a little game. I’ve placed a screenshot from Cruis’n for the Wii and Cruis’n USA, which was released in 1994 (13 years ago!) next to each other.

Can you tell the difference?
How pathetic is that? Is Midway using the exact same graphics engine from 13 years ago? Are the developers blind? Is this all the graphics the Wii can handle? Is this a test to see just how gullible Wii owners really are? I sure hope it’s one of the above or else Midway is going to have a lot of explaining to do when this game hits shelves.
If you’re thinking that the game play will look better than the screen shots, then I hate to break it to you, but you’re wrong. Check out this link to a video, if you dare. Be prepared to quickly shield your eyes and hide the children.

(The one on the left is the Wii version BTW)

Clearly the fact that Midway released a POS shows the world that Wii owners are gullible. I submit to the court: Any Mortal Kombat game released since 1995.
Case Dismissed.

At least with the Mortal Kombat games you can tell there is a significant difference in the level of graphics.
This Cruis’n game just looks AWFUL, maybe even worse than the N64 versions.
