With their big push towards the release of Rock Band on November 20, EA apparently has obtained the licensed tracks of a number of famous children’s TV shows such as Barney and the Wiggles.
EA’s Jeff Bundy explains, “We really feel as though we’re trapping ourselves in a box in competing with Guitar Hero III. We both have a number of the same songs, by the same artist with identical game play and we’re looking to branch out and ‘rock out’ to Barney and my personal favorite the Wiggles!”
Rock Band plans to offer select Barney songs within three packs of songs that also contain many famous rock tracks. The first grouping will feature Barney and Friend’s “I love you” Song along with Slayer’s “Raining Blood” and finally Motley Crue’s “Girls, Girls, Girls.”
Bundy explains the new song packs will offer a variety of music along with the new children’s music to broaden Rock Band’s appeal. “We’re looking to get the 4 to 7 year old crowd really rocking at Christmas!”
Look for Barney next month on XBLA and some bonus Menudo tracks around Christmas!
