The reviews are in for Assassin’s Creed and….Oh, my, G..G…G..Gawd!  67 out of 100?  77 out of 100? I thought this game was supposed to be the first “truly next gen game?”

Damn you Ubisoft for using hot ladies like Jade Raymond to sell this mediocre title to us…

*using best Cpt. Kirk voice from Wrath of Kahn*

 JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I’m calming down.  Let’s take a closer look at these reviews.  Who said what to whom and why.

Metacritic has the game at an 84 out of 100.  Gamepro (of course) gave the game a score of 100 out of 100.  So did Game Informer.  They also said that they didn’t actually play the game.   I kid, I kid.  Not really.

The next credible review comes from Gamespot, who gave it a 90 out of 100.  They said:

In Assassin’s Creed, the greatest joy comes from the smallest details, and for every nerve-racking battle, there’s a quiet moment that cuts to the game’s heart and soul.

Creepy.

Next up is everbody’s favorite IGN, and I’m not just saying that because I was paid to… They gave it a 77 out of 100.  IGN said that it was repetitive and had a ton of graphical errors, such as tearing and pop-in.

Finally Gamespy and 1Up both gave it a 70 for boring fetch quests and repetitive gameplay.

Almost all of the reviews blasted the big story “twist” that comes within the first five minutes of the game, which ultimately ends up detracting from the entire game. Most reviews said that the ending is kind of hollow which was ripe for a …. wait for it… sequel.

Presumptuous?

Wow.  Raise your hands if you thought it was going to be a masterpiece? For those that raised their hands, now I know who not to take to Vegas with me.

Next up: Crysis!!!

You know a game could be in trouble when the producer gets more attention than the gameplay jade has overshadowed this title from the start .

Was never impressed by this game at any point in it’s pre-launch time. Looks like my gamer intuition served me correctly on this one.

This game will be completely forgotten once Mass Effect hits next week.

Dammit, I had such high hopes for this game. GameFly Rating: 9.3
      Based on 42 ratings.

This was never on my radar either. It always looked too good to be true… Either that, or I was too busy checking out Jade’s cans to notice the gameplay…

what’s really intriguing is the range in scores within ign’s own offices, internationally speaking.
US – 7.7 UK – 6.5 AU – 8.7. i typically use reviews to justify purchases that i’ve already made, or have committed myself to making. this only further contributes to my own indecision, and ultimately spending my money elsewhere. at least i have halo-jesus

      Jade is mighty tasty

It sucks when high-concept games don’t turn out. :(

Honestly, I’m interested to see what kind of scores Soldier of Fortune get. I was a huge fan of the second game, I hope this is good… or at least decent.

lono im with you on soldier of fortune im a great fan of the series.
As for assasin creed i played it for like couple of hours and i found it to be not that bad although it can never compete with prince of persia

I’ve heard very good things about AC from folks like Gabe over at PA… He seemed to have actually hit upon why the game was so poorly revied.

I personally really enjoyed Assassins Creed. Commercial reviews often miss the point. Ooh gee Red faction has good cinematics, and the story was en-NO!!! In assassins creed you can explore 11th century cities which you can free run your way through. I love this game.

It’s not worth full price due to no multiplayer, but it is really fun to play. F U all.

Sorry about the last comment, didnt finish my point cos im tired. What i meant was all the reviews are missing the point, like some did with Red Faction, talking about irrelevant stuff when what really matters is how fun it is to destroy stuff
