Phillip Morris, the folks that bring you Cowboy Killer, Marlboro Reds, have taken a note out of the Doritos playbook.

The “Killin Me on PS3″ promotion will challenge PS3 owners to create an First Person Shooter game that features Phillip Morris products, which would promote a positive brand image.

Much like the Doritos “UNLOCK THE XBOX” promotion, entrants must write out their ideas and submit them for consideration.

This is the first time a cigarette manufacturer has ever sponsored such a video game promotion. Consumer advocacy groups have been surprisingly quiet regarding the matter.

“Because so many children play video games, we’d normally be freaking out about this,” said T.R.U.T.H. CEO Bob Stewart. “But frankly there are so few people that actually OWN PS3’s, it’s just not worth the effort. Now if they try this sh** on the Wii or the Xbox 360, it’s f***** on!”

First prize winners will see thir idea turned into an actual game, plus they’ll score a lifetime supply of cigs, or 20-years-worth… whichever comes first.
