Nintendo just broke another video game record. During the frantic Thanksgiving week shopping sprees, Nintendo was able to sell over 1 million pieces of their hardware! The DS sold a staggering 650,000 units while the Wii sold a very impressive 350,000. This amazing number of sales breaks the previous Thanksgiving week record held by (surprise, surprise) Nintendo with their GBA in 2005 at 600k units.
The most ridiculous aspect to all of these amazing numbers is the fact that they still were far short of meeting demand. Every single Wii that hits shelves is snatched up by some crazed soccer mom within seconds. It would be disgusting to see exactly how many Wiis Nintendo could sell if they could meet demand. I bet we’d be seeing over a million per week sold.
Personally I fear for the safety of the stock boys that have to carry these ridiculously hot items out from the stock rooms to the shelves. There’s nothing scarier than the sight of a group of determined mothers willing to do anything to get that must-have Christmas gift for little Jimmy.
In related news, the price of Wiis being sold on eBay has skyrocketed. Hmm, I wonder if the shortage of supply has anything to do with that.

Sadly… I helped them. I bought both of the new DS bundles for gifts on Black Friday. We’ll be a 3 DS household come Xmas! Thank God for the ability to play multiplayer on one cartridge!

Since the Wii shortage began I’ve said “I’m not buying a Wii until I can walk into any store at any time of day or night and purchase one.”
Looks like I won’t be buying a Wii this holiday season.

I was one of those people that bought one this summer and have played it for a total of about 16 hours. I don’t think I’ve turned it on in about 5 weeks. I think you’ll be seeing my wii on Ebay in the near future
Should give my PS3 fund a big boost

Well its a good freakin thing I pre-ordered mine and got it when it was released. If I had to get one now I would have to charge in with a sword and an SMG.
