Lono’s Review of the Call of Duty 4 Reviews.

My beloved has returned.  Yes, Call of Duty 4 is finally out on the 360, PS3 and PC.  I picked mine up on Monday.  Well, now that it’s out, what do the “people that matter” think?

 Find out after the jump.

Who cares what they think.  I think this game is fantastic and you should run, not walk, to your local store, yes even *shudder* Gamestop, and buy this.

 Now.

The multiplayer alone is worth the 60 bucks… anyway, I digress.  Back to the review of the reviews… What are the peeps saying about Call of Duty 4?

On Metacritic, the average score across the board is a solid 95, with the PC giving it a 93, and the 360 and Ps3 giving it 96’s on both consoles.

On the PC, two reviews, by  British Reviewers, drag the overall score down by giving it 89 out of 100 in both cases. The single player campaign was the unique source of their criticism.  In particular, Computerandvideogames.com’s problem with the single player campaign was:

“A mixture of bad checkpoint placement, bizarre difficulty spikes, lazy design and blatant enemy spawn points suck the fun right out of proceedings. [referring to a particular level in the game]

Such an odd dip in quality we can only attribute to possible time constraints, but it’s definitely there. If I had a virtual highlighter pen I could mark out a distinct fraction of the game that’s simply, inexcusably rubbish. And then, magically, it surprises with a superb ending that flies in the face of the typical fade-to-black Call of Duty closures we’ve had previously.”

In fact, across the board, it appears that most reviewers’ singular problem with CoD4 was with the shortness of the title’s single player game that is described as being between 6 and 8 hours on normal, but considerably longer on Veteran and the higher difficulty levels.

Oh, and here’s a little single player tid bit: wait until after the credits for some additional content.

I haven’t even touched the single player campaign yet, so I can’t comment…

The multiplayer, on the other hand, has been universally praised.  There’s tons (16) of maps, great weapons, perks, a ton of gameplay modes and NO lag.  Oh, and it looks pretty good too!

Enough of this… I’m off to play CoD4.

How bout you?

Single Player : Epic so far, not a single unsatisfying moment. The shortness might make me sad, but I’ll definitely be going through it again and again.

Multiplayer : Truly, awesome. It takes what was great about CoD2’s fast paced action and adds a totally new twist on it by bringing in perks. Its not Halo, and damn right it shouldn’t be , but its close enough even a Halo Jeebus lover like me can pick it up quickly and truly like it.

FPS shooter of the year from me.

The Multi player is Digital Crack. Just outstanding. I’ve had it since Monday also and I’m already at level 23 (almost 24), SG Gaming night will be such a blast on this.

the Multiplayer is just about 10,000 times better than Halo’s multiplayer.

      It’s science.

I haven’t played the CoD4 multi-player yet, but I toatally disagree on it being better than Halo multi-player.

I agree with Lono. I was big time into Halo2 and I just can’t get into halo3. Lo and behold COD4 comes and saves me! Thank you COD4!!!!!

COD4’s multi-player is more than enough reason to own the game.
