With Iron Man on the PS3, and the Hulk on the PS2 this year; Marvel wanted an, as yet, untapped property on a Sony gaming machine. In this case, the PSP. So who did they get? The Silver Surfer? Nope. Ok, how bout Deadpool? Ah, no, guess again.

Ok, Alpha Flight? Nope. The frickin Gen-X crew?? No. Ok, who then?

Ant man.

That’s right, you heard me, Ant Man.

In preparation for the upcoming Marvel blockbuster movie Ant Man!, Dr. Hank Pym is coming to the PSP! Journey with the man of micro stature as he battles through the horrifying world of insects! Using his wondrous ability to shrink and talk to bugs, Ant Man promises to bring a whole new standard of “quality” to the already critically acclaimed group of Marvel inspired video games.

When asked why they decided to go with Ant Man as their next big star, Marvel had this to say: “We took a long hard look at the huge roster of Marvel characters. At first we were considering a King Of Monsters style game featuring Apocalypse, or perhaps a love story RPG involving She-Hulk. A skateboarding title featuring Jubilee was even on the board for a little while. But in the end we went with someone we know has an absolutely minuscule fan base. So, if we screw up, no one will care!”

Marvel continued, saying: “A lot of the super powers our characters have are getting old, nobody really thinks super strength, speed, laser eyes, invisibility and flying is cool anymore. But can any of them talk to bugs? Do any of them shrink, rather than become towering monuments of destruction? Nope, none of them do, just Dr Pym. We really want to put the “super” back into super hero, and Ant Man is how we will do it.”

Word is, the PSP title will start you off in a bee hive where Ant Man will have to collect as much honey as possible before time runs out. “Buzz buzz…give my all your f*****g honey!…buzz buzz.” More high adventure and entomology  awaits Ant Man as you progress through this high caliber homage to one of Marvels greatest creations.

This long awaited Marvel gem took precedence over the Aquaman game, but I’m sure we won’t have to wait long before the master of swimming really fast and talking to fish joins his insect brother from another mother in a video game title of his own.
