More than any other hobby I’ve ever had, rumors and speculation dominate the daily life of the videogame world. Part of me hates it, but part of me wouldn’t have it any other way. Since the internet exploded into web communities and online chat groups, the ease and speed at which such rumors spread is almost expontential. Online chat facilities like IRC have existed for almost 20 years, but only over the last 5-7 years has the rumor phenomenon really taken off.
Rumors can start several ways. Some simply start as tidbits of real information leak out, some start by someone overhearing something (correct or not) and sharing what they heard (or think they heard).
