Reggie’s Jealousy?

che.jpgReggie Fils-Aime, the top dog at Nintendo, has recently admitted that he wants to see more games on his console. He’s not looking for games still in development. Reggie is looking for games already on the market, on other consoles.

I’ve been very intrigued with Little Big Planet (from Sony). I don’t know that it belongs on their platform. Microsoft has done well. There are a range of first-person shooter type games that are all very well done that could all do quite well on a Nintendo platform.

Certainly, the Halo trilogy - anyone who would look at that and say, “No, I think we could live without it,” probably doesn’t think real long about this industry.

Even games like BioShock. I thought that was tremendously well done. The writing was tremendously clever. I would love to see more of that type of content in the industry overall that actually makes people think a little bit.

I can see him taking a deep breath afterwards and saying, “Oh to have some non-kid targeted games. This is what I get for taking a power point ad on and turning it into a game console. Those games will be mine, oh yes, they will be mine.” *dry washes hands*

Why stop there? Instead of talking the talk, why not go out there and get more adult oriented games? Go for GTAIV and get an exclusive sex scene added in to draw more people to your console Reggie. Put those motion controls to use!

Maybe the AO version of Manhunt? How about a version of Mass Effect that allows you t f*** anything with a hole? Aliens, watermelons, walls, the sky is the limit. You go Reggie!

Too bad he didn’t think about getting some of these games when they were still under development. Besides it’s doubtful that Microsoft will giveaway its cash cow, the Halo trilogy. Sony is in dire straits, so don’t go looking for hand outs there either.

Beware Sony and Microsoft! Reggie’s coming and the two creepy guys from the Wii commercials are coming with him. Hopefully, Reggie doesn’t get his way and they wear pants this time… ewww..

Wasn’t Reggie the one who said that Halo 3 wasn’t a threat, and that the Wii doesn’t need a counter to it? Brilliant.

JEALOUSY? Admiration, more like. Admiration that is clearly leading to bettering the system overall, by getting more great games.

It’s a double-edged sword. Nintendo has a rep for kid friendly, cheap, but not cutting edge systems that are easy sell to parents. But it’s those very same things that make developers like Epic Games shy away.

Reminds me of the Disney squeaky clean actors who then desire to be taken seriously. Oh, Lindsay, keep trying. The Academy will take you seriously one day.
