Kill The Cooling Fan!

Every friggen electronic device on the planet does not need ANOTHER device to supposedly “improve” what the original product already does.

I’m talking about third party “cooling” fans.  These things are completely unnecessary, yet people still buy them!

Ok, so the Xbox 360 has its share of problems. Unfortunately, no matter what you hear, it’s likely a hardware defect no amount of cooling can fix. When my 360 went RRoD, it wasn’t even hot. However, some people still think that buying a 3rd party fan will do some sort of voodoo hex to keep it from busting. Ironically, some early fan models actually CAUSED the RRoD by causing a short circuit!

So why the heck is there one for the Wii?

That’s right, Nintendo’s little golden goose has a cooling fan accessory. It’s called the Nyko Wii Intercooler. I guess some people out there think the Wii is already working too hard, with its stunning standard definition and extensive online multiplayer capabilities. It must generate one major ball of heat to need this exciting new waste of money.

I guess there are enough customers out there who buy these things; otherwise they wouldn’t exist.  Well guess what? I’ve got an even better accessory. It’s easy to install, benefits all your electronics, compatible with all brands, and best of all, it’s absolutely free!

It’s called ventilation.

Yes! Believe it or not, your console, and just about all major heat generating electronics already have some sort of working fan to keep the innards cool. All you need to do is give it just a bit of breathing room, and it should be fine.

There, I just saved you $14.99.

I think the cooling fans are definitely a waste of money. But, I did find one accessory that had a VGA out, and extra USB ports, and cooling fans, which was less than just a plan RCA to VGA cable, so I figured what the hell, and bought that. It was basically the only possible way I would ever own one.

i know its a streach but some people do need this stuff

      1.people without airconditioning
      2.people without airconditioning

That about covers the fan buying population

I think this might have been produced due to the problem alot of people have been having with their Wii’s overheating.
This is not due to the extreme way the console is pushed or anything you might think, but due to leaving it in standby mode!
When the Wii is left in standby mode (the orange light) it remains connected to the internet, to allow you to share your Mii’s and goes in to power save mode. However this also means the fan is turned off. People’s Wii’s have been overheating due to leaving their console in the standby state for a couple of months or so and the console slowly getting hotter, with no internal fan to cool it down. The best thing to do is to turn the Wii off when you aren’t using it, and avoiding the issue completely

I agree that consoles don’t need a cooling fan, but when you get into the custum computers ppl builed out there, including the overclocking that most of those ppl would use, extra fans might be needed (Max fans ever seen was 10)
