While most critics around the world are fawning over the Wii’s latest World War II Shooter, French game reviewers are giving poor grades to Nintendo’s latest offering.Jean Pierre with Eurogaming Weekly said,
“No I don’t like zee game. Every time zee Germans attack, I raise my wiimote in the air frantically, but nothing happens. Poor controls, no?“
When asked for comment, Nintendo of America PR guy Jason Burns responded,
“I heard about the French guys complaints about the WWII shooter. I was with them when they play tested the game. Every time they wandered into a battle, they all did the same thing. They would raise thier wiimote in the air frantically, waiving it back and forth like idiots. Then they would, of course, get themselves killed… and then the cursing would start. I kept telling them that there is no ‘Surrender‘ action, but they just wouldn’t believe me.”
Nintendo claims they’re making an exclusive French version of the game that will debut in early 2008. The French exclusive is rumored to only include a capture the flag style experience.
In the French Exclusive, instead of carrying firearms, players will start with an historically-accurate white flag, and must surrender to any enemy on site. Afterward, they’ll just hang out until American and British forces arrive to liberate them!
