Financial Crysis!

Well, the Crysis system requirements came out this week and boy, oh boy, I could not care less. Did ya see those reqirements? Excuse me while I call MIT to see if I can borrow their super computer. Anyone know the phone number for Deep blue? This game would make my current rig melt. To China.

I don’t want to go to China.

I, like most PC gamers, update my computer every couple of years to keep up with the times. The last time I updated my computer was right about the time Half Life 2 came out. I picked me up a sweet $500.00 graphics card and spent another $250.00 to $350.00 in upgrades and basically rebuilt my computer from scratch. At the time, PC gaming was the cutting edge of gaming and the money was worth it if you used your computer for other applications. When all was said and done, I spent about $850.00.

Yeah, you bet your sweet ass that Half Life 2 ran like a dream.

I am a PC gamer. I’ve played them all. Since I bought my 360, my gaming habits have shifted quite a bit to the consoles. Playing with my friends is just too much fun to isolate myself on my PC. I still enjoy RTS games and the occasional shooter, but I will not be playing Crysis any time soon. For what I spent to upgrade my computer to play Half-Life 2, I could have purchased a PS3 and a Wii.

They would be sitting on my shelf collecting dust, but still…

To play Crysis, I would have to rebuild my computer from scratch…again. I’d need a new processor, new power supply, new ram, new graphics card, new mother board, and I’d probably need a new case, plus another couple of items that I’m probably forgetting.

We’re talking a minimum $800.00 to $1,000.00 just to play one game? Aw hell naw.

I realize that Crysis is state of the art. That the graphics and physics will be jaw dropping. I just don’t care and I don’t think that I’m in the minority here. I don’t want to have to choose between my daughter’s college fund and updating my friggin computer! I understand wanting to make the best game possible, but when your game demands a $1,000.00 cover charge at the door, I’ll find somewhere else to dance.

I’ll keep saving my money for Rock Band. Keep your phone number for Deep Blue, I won’t need it.

I agree, upgrading for that makes about as much sense as taking a dump in the dishwasher.
