After the blistering success of E for All, the gaming convention created to help bring an E3-style event back to the everyday Joe, IDG World Expo ended weeks of speculation with two announcements. First, they’ve set the date of next year’s E for All event, August 28-30, 2008.

“We saw more than 18, 000 gaming enthusiasts, which is a fantastic number for a first-year event,” said event organizer Greg Oshman. “Especially when you consider the fact that there wasn’t really anything there to see. No Microsoft, No Sony. Just people walking around an empty expo center. If they’ll come out for that? Shoot! Imagine if we actually got exhibitors!”

Then, Oshman made it official, confirming the rumor that IDG would also bring a gaming convention to the southern United States.

“Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, West Virginia, all of these states are grossly under-represented at gaming conventions. So, we’re proud to announce a revolutionary new event, designed specifically for these proud southerners.”

The creatively titled E Fer Y’all will bring together video games and southern culture in an unprecedented manner.

“First and foremost everyone is welcome, along with their spouse and/or sister,” said Oshman. “This won’t be some intimidating, hard-to-navigate exposition. Every sign will be printed in clear, third-grade verbiage, with large pictures and arrows, directing attendees to the various features of the show.”

The inaugural E Fer Y’all will be held July 19-21, 2008 at the Jefferson Civic Center in Birmingham, Alabama.

“The big Bassmaster’s tourney at Logan-Martin lake made our date and location a real no-brainer,” explained Oshman. “Plus it’s like 40 minutes from Talladega.”

Other features of E Fer Y’all include:

• Exhibitors will showcase all games and products from the tailgates of domestic pickup trucks.
• The “Robert E. Lee BYOCoDF” area*
• Spitting is approved anywhere in the convention space.
• Everything displayed will be available at Walmart.
• Appearances daily by top NASCAR drivers.
• Musical entertainment nightly from Lynrd Skynrd.
• The Old Milwaukee Children’s Area
