Walmart today announced that it is extending it’s line of “Great Value” generic alternatives, to the video game aisles, in what some industry insiders are calling a full fledged Armageddon for developers and publishers.

“Just as our GV cereals, milk, bread, and pastas offer consumers the option of a less-expensive food, without the expensive packaging and rich flavor of name brands, so too will Great Value Video Games offer gamers the chance to play less flashy versions of popular console titles,” said the company’s latest press release.

The following “Great Value” AAA titles are currently in development:

  • Shooting Stuff 2 (All)
  • Italian Plumber Adventure (Wii)
  • Racing Cars ‘08 (All)
  • Racing Cars on Dirt ‘08 (PS3 Exclusive)
  • Shooting Nazis Again: First Fall From A Plane (PS3, 360)
  • Shooting Animals (Wii)
  • Army Men in Las Vegas (PS3, 360)
  • Steal Cars and Hurt People (PS3, 360)

Look for these and other “generic gaming alternatives” in the video game aisle at your local Walmart, starting this fall.
