Sony Runs Out of PS3s… Maybe?

Those of you that have been saving your money to get one of the discounted PS3s had better get in gear; the Sony warehouses are now empty. That means that if you were planning on taking advantage of the “price drop” you had better act fast since the $499 special is about to be gone. Or, maybe not, cause Sony sometimes lies.Fans who fail to buy one will be missing out on the full backwards compatibility that is not found in the 80gb model. This is most unfortunate if your PS2 gets broken or sold off in order to make room for the next gen. No need to worry though, they run at about $125 at most stores and sell more consoles in a week than the PS3 and 360 combined. Sad but true…

It has been speculated that Sony will drop the price of the new 80gb unit once the 60gb models are no longer on store shelves, which is expected to happen shortly before Christmas. If they do, I feel bad for the members of the gaming community that sprang for the 80 when the 60 was cheaper and better.

So, buy one of the remaining 60gb PS3s, or wait and pray that the 80gb drops in price? Ask yourself, is 20gb of extra hard drive worth losing the option to play all your favorite PS2 games?Do you even want to play PS2 games anymore? Do you really need to beat Kingdom Hearts for the fifth time?
