Rothbart’s Rant #2 – Fanboys

fanboy – fan·boy [fan-boi] – noun – someone utterly devoted to a single subject or hobby, often to the point where it is considered an obsession, disregarding any information that doesn’t agree with their views on said subject or hobby.

Fanboys are to eggs as videogames are to… chickens? Sorry, I had a little SAT flashback there. But the connection between videogames and fanboys seems like one that must have been part of the original recipe of whichever one came first. Today’s rant is a look at why I wish there were no videogame fanboys (even though I’ll confess that to a certain small degree I think they’re ultimately necessary).
