Hi, I’m Dave. I like free stuff. Ah Quakecon, land of the lan party and home of the swag. Here’s my quest for the free stuff!
Upon arrival, Doc, Lono and I made our way to the convention center. To my surprise, the walls leading to the convention floor were lined with free old school video games! Score! I made a beeline straight for them, only to be peeled away moments later by Doc and Lono. Sad times for Dave.

The next day after a very long night we returned to the expo floor and kissed some hands and shook some babies. Still no freebies. As we walked past the Orcs and Elves booth there it was! SWAG, for real this time. This booth had it all, someone to interview, hotties, and free EA bottled water. It must come from that fresh spring in EA land. At first, I didn’t know whether to drink it or take it home and put it under glass, but thirst took over. Water was so expensive I eventually caved. Good thing the EA guys were cool with my frequent returns to the booth for water. Sadly there was no EA food, although I don’t know if I would have wanted to know where that comes from.
The developers of World in Conflict provided me with my first bit of loot, the really cool looking World In Conflict red tee. Finally some SWAG! I also scored a sweet lanyard, but only after lots of begging. Pride be damned!
The next morning we got there right when the booths opened and I was able to snag a Quake Wars shirt and a Thermaltake lanyard. The woman hollered, “Anyone not have…” I was there in a flash with my hand out. I may have knocked a toddler over getting there, but I can’t remember…. Must not have been that important.
After the orgasmic sensation of playing Left 4 Dead the developers were kind enough to bestow their official Tee. Happy times. We also got some posters and certificates for free copies of Quake that we will be giving away right here. Stay tuned for more information about that.
So, in total I received a free magazine, countless EA water bottles, Quake, three tee shirts, two lanyards, two posters and a partridge in a pear tree. Not bad for my first Con.
