A Sarcastic Gamer EXCLUSIVE!
The Penny Arcade Expo, affectionately known as PAX to most of the gaming community, is being sued by Ion Television, the owners of the PAX television trademark, for infringement. In a brief offered to California Superior Court today, PAX TV made its case for damages and penalties against the Expo.
“While we don’t have anything against gamers, we’re very concerned that people might associate the PAX network with fun and exciting new technology, instead of Designing Women and Quincy reruns,” said Sally Manning, chief spokeswoman for PAX TV. “It’s destroying the brand image we’ve spent dozens of dollars to create.”
Penny Arcade Expo organizers have tentatively agreed to rename the event, in order to avoid any confusion, by simply removing the offending letters from its name.
Event organizer, Clyde O’rourke remains cautiously optimistic. “Nonetheless, the Enny Rcade Epo, or ‘ERE’ will proceed as planned.”
