Apparently there has been some “talk” from gamers who want (need) World of Warcraft to come to the next-gen consoles. The answer to that from the horses mouth at Blizzard is no. A Blizzard rep wrote in their blog that they loved the PC and the Mac and has no plans to make a console version.
This brings up some interesting “what if’s.” Would they have a separate console Battle.net or would they be able to mix it up with PC users. If you subscribe to XBL, do you still have to pay the Battle.net fee? This might be a deal breaker for someone in my income bracket. On the same note, would PS3 and 360 users be able to play each other? It would be so on! Let’s do the math: Console fanboy + WoW fanboy = Ivan Drago of Fanboys, except instead of one, there would be a legion of them. He killed Apollo dammit!
How would the controls work? Is this where the Xbox Chat Pad comes in? What about the PS3? Would there be a split screen option? Nothing sounds more fun than sitting next to you buddy for six to eight hours at a time, mining for minerals and taking ridiculously long trips across the vast expanses of WoW. Depends anyone?
Could they install time limits so the players do not get so immersed in the game they forget to handle their real lives? How about a constant local weather update that tells you when the weather is nice and gently tells you to go outside and take a walk or do some yard work? On second thought, maybe they should add this feature to the PC WoW…
WoW coming to console would not be for me, I just thought the possibilities were interesting.
Here comes the hate email…
